Terms of service

Last updated: October 29, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply when you buy a course or program from Ontario Education Online ("OEO", "we", "us") at www.ontarioeducationonline.ca, or when a student takes an OEO course. OEO is a Ministry of Educationโ€“inspected private secondary school in Ontario (BSID 882902) that grants credits toward the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

By completing a purchase or using our courses, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy. Students also agree to follow the policies in the OEO School Course Calendar, including our Code of Conduct and Academic Integrity policies.

1. Who can buy

Courses may be purchased by a student who is 18 or older, or by a parent or guardian on behalf of a student. If you buy for someone else, you confirm you are authorized to enroll them and that you will share these Terms with them.

2. What you get

For each course you purchase, OEO provides:

  • Full access to the course in Google Classroom, using an OEO student account we create for you.
  • A teacher who marks your work and gives you feedback.
  • A midterm and final report card.
  • On successful completion, an Ontario credit reported to the Ministry of Education. Full-time students' credits are recorded on the Ontario Student Transcript we maintain; for students taking individual courses, the final mark and credit are sent to the school that holds the student's Ontario Student Record.

Marks and credits are earned by the student. We do not guarantee a particular mark, that a credit will be earned, or any admission, scholarship, or employment outcome.

3. Enrolment

  • After checkout, you must complete our intake form so we can set up the student's account. Please make sure the information you give us, including the student's legal name, date of birth, and Ontario Education Number (OEN), is accurate.
  • Students are responsible for having the prerequisite for each course, unless OEO has assessed and waived it. If you are unsure, contact us before the student begins.
  • A student may switch to a different course only before starting the original course, and only with OEO's approval.

4. Pacing and course access

  • OEO courses are self-paced and asynchronous. To protect academic integrity, a course cannot be completed in less than 4 weeks, and students may complete no more than 4 lessons per day.
  • Students have 12 months to complete a course, starting when they complete its first lesson. Access may end after that period.

5. Academic integrity and conduct

  • All submitted work must be the student's own. Plagiarism, unauthorized use of AI tools, or having someone else complete work or exams will be treated as academic dishonesty under the School Course Calendar and may result in a mark of zero, removal from the course, or both.
  • Final exams are written online on our exam platform, which times the exam and monitors the student's screen. No webcam is used.
  • Students must follow the OEO Code of Conduct and communicate with staff only through OEO accounts and platforms.
  • OEO may suspend or remove a student who breaches these Terms or school policies. No refund is given in that case.

6. Prices and payment

  • Prices are in Canadian dollars and are set at the time of purchase. Discounts and promotions may change without notice.
  • If you choose a deposit or partial-payment option, you agree to pay the remaining balance on the schedule shown at checkout. OEO may pause course access while a balance is overdue.
  • Some programs, such as co-operative education within full-time enrolment, carry an additional fee that we will confirm with you before the placement begins.

7. Refunds and withdrawals

All course purchases are final. Because students receive immediate access to course materials when they enrol, we do not offer refunds or exchanges once a purchase has been completed. See our Refund Policy.

A student may withdraw from a course by contacting us. How a withdrawal appears on the student's record follows Ontario Ministry of Education rules. In general, a Grade 11 or 12 course dropped before or within 5 school days after the first report card is not recorded on the Ontario Student Transcript, and a later withdrawal is recorded with a "W".

8. Student records and reporting

As an Ontario school, we report enrolment and achievement to the Ministry of Education, keep student records as the Ministry requires, and send marks to other schools or to OUAC when asked or required. Details are in our Privacy Policy.

9. Technology

Students need a reliable device and internet connection, and must use their OEO account (not a personal account) to access courses. Courses run on third-party platforms such as Google Workspace. We are not responsible for outages or problems caused by those platforms or by the student's own device or connection, but we will help where we can.

10. Course materials

All course content, including lessons, assignments, videos, and exams, belongs to OEO or its licensors. It is for the enrolled student's personal educational use only and may not be copied, shared, sold, or posted publicly.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, OEO's total liability for any claim relating to a course is limited to the amount you paid for that course. OEO is not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have under Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2002 or other law that cannot be waived.

12. Our store platform

Our online store is powered by Shopify. Purchases are made directly with Ontario Education Online, and Shopify is not responsible for any aspect of your purchase or of the courses we provide.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version posted on this page at the time of your purchase applies to that purchase. We will notify current students and families by email of material changes.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in Ontario. Any dispute will be heard in the courts of Ontario.
