Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) is a review of your transcripts, training, and experience by our guidance team. You get a written plan for the credits you still need and the order to take them.

Who it's for
If some or all of your learning happened outside an Ontario high school, a PLAR shows what counts.
Mature students
Your earlier credits, training, and work experience are reviewed, then we map what's left.
Transfer students
Your transcripts are compared to Ontario courses to identify credits that may transfer.
Homeschool students
The learning you've completed is reviewed, and your plan recommends where to start in the Ontario curriculum.
Also for anyone whose work, training, or life experience may count toward the OSSD.

PLAR stands for Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition. Our guidance team reviews your previous education, work experience, training, and life experience to determine which Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) credits you may already qualify for, then maps out the rest of your path to the diploma.
The PLAR assessment is $150 CAD, paid once. You are not required to take courses with us afterward. If you decide to enrol in an Ontario Education Online course after your PLAR is complete, your $150 is credited back.
The intake questionnaire takes 10 to 15 minutes. Most assessments are complete within 1 to 2 business days after we receive all required documents.
Depending on your situation, we may ask for report cards or transcripts, international education records, college or university transcripts, training certificates, employment history or a resume, and other supporting documents. If you don't have everything yet, you can still start. We'll tell you exactly what's needed.
Yes. You can add the student's name when you enrol, or leave it blank. We collect the student's details on the intake form after purchase.
The fee covers academic review and assessment time. Once your assessment has been delivered, it is non-refundable.
