Human Development & Sexual Health

In this unit, students investigate human growth, development, and sexual health, including anatomy, reproductive health, contraception, sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections, and consent. They explore healthy relationships, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, and learn to navigate potential risks and challenges with accurate information. Through evidence-based decision-making and critical thinking, students build skills to make respectful, informed choices about intimacy and personal boundaries.

Movement Competence

Unit 2 emphasizes the importance of movement competence through practical activities that can be performed at home. Students will learn various skills and workout routines tailored for home environments, enabling them to engage in physical activity regardless of their location. This unit encourages creativity and self-sufficiency in fitness, equipping students with tools to maintain an active lifestyle independently.

Substance Use & Abuse

In this unit, students will examine the short- and long-term effects of alcohol, cannabis, vaping, and other substances on physical health, mental well-being, and relationships. They will develop strategies to make informed decisions, resist peer pressure, and access reliable support resources. The unit emphasizes risk awareness, harm reduction, and the importance of healthy lifestyle choices in promoting overall well-being.

Healthy Living Skills

Unit 4 focuses on the principles of healthy active living, highlighting the importance of combining physical activity with positive lifestyle choices. Students will engage in discussions and activities that examine the benefits of regular exercise, active hobbies, and social engagement. This unit aims to inspire students to incorporate movement into their daily routines and make choices that promote a balanced, fulfilling lifestyle.
